Hello Spring!

Spring Tulip Video Course-Click Image to find out more.

I’m so excited for spring this year!  We’ve been teased in the last month or so with hints of spring, and then another cold snap comes. I’m ready for green grass, leaves on the trees, and flowers!!   I love taking walks and capturing photos along the way that can become paintings!  It’s coming soon, and I just keep telling that to myself.

I’ve been easing myself back into my studio, trying out some new products, watching videos on new techniques to try, reading creative books, and basically just filling up my creative tank.  That’s a necessary part to keep creativity flowing.  The stress of life is so relieved when I paint, words can’t describe how it really makes me feel.

Last month I opened up my home studio again to offer a class on Wednesday afternoons from 2-4 p.m.  It is a very relaxed setting.  I offered to just allow students to create the subject matter they desired, and I’m there to coach/teach them how to create that subject.  The one thing I loved about oil painting classes I took several years ago was the freedom to choose my subject matter.  My teacher then helped me along in the project and kindly critiqued my work to help me know how to make it better.  I loved that setting and I now am offering the same for my students.  I love tutorials and workshops where everyone paints the same thing, and have offered those, but for this one, I wanted to extend the offer for some freedom to choosing your subject matter, surfaces to use, etc.  Being in my home studio, all of my supplies and materials are at hand and easy for me to demo how to use.  Students can also purchase different kinds of surfaces from me to try and find out if you like before spending a lot of money on them.  There are lots of supplies in my studio to try with colored pencils!  I can demonstrate how to use colored pencils in many ways with the techniques I have learned over the years.  We have lots of fun together, and the best part is building relationships with other creative people!  It’s a great experience, and if you would like to join us or want more information, please email me @kjkeys@kimkeysart.com.

If you can’t make my Wednesday class, but want to create a spring project, which is the beautiful, pink tulip pictured above, then check this video course out on my website.  This is a 3-hour video course and includes an ebook to use along with the videos, and is normally available for $47.  I’m offering YOU a special discount for the next 5 days to get the course for only $35!  This video course covers how to use colored pencils on Lux Archival paper with Brush and Pencil Powdered blender.  It’s a lot of fun!  Check it out here: https://www.kimkeysart.com/courses-classes.  The $35 offer expires next Tuesday, March 22nd.  The website says it’s $47, but if you respond by next Tuesday, you will only pay $35. Get it while you can at the discounted price!

In other news, I found out my painting, New Wine, was selected to be in Ann Kullberg’s Colored Pencil Hidden Treasures, Volume 7.  This publication only happens every 18 months, and New Wine was selected to be one of the pieces included out of over 800 entries.  I’m so honored!  I can hardly wait to see the book when published with so much beautiful colored pencil art!  I will let you know when it’s published!

I hope this blog has helped you to get inspired to create!  Please let me know if you would like to join my class on Wednesday or get the video course I offered above.  Enjoy spring and blessings to you!
